Paint Box

Alex Box

Looking at the play between beauty and slighly uneasy representation of the female. Box also has the carnivalesque/circus paint/wallpaper motifs running through, despite being fashion shots. Also like the fact that this 'work' is collaborative, stepping outside of the expected conventions for this genre; Box has created performance like pieces through makeup whilst Rankin has preserved the moment through photography, fashion but also capturing something transient. The models' transformations seem to bind them into a character, their beauty screened behind the facade but also creating a compelling curiosity for the viewer to return their gaze.
